Bonjour, je m'appelle Gabriella

I came up with the idea for Dézoomer during my junior year of high school. After coping with perfectionism for years, I finally hit my breaking point: the writing (and rewriting and rewriting) process of an essay for my French V class. I struggled to find resources that could support me in my journey with perfectionism.

Perfectionists are often told that "it doesn't have to be perfect" or "perfection is unattainable." However, these well-intended statements are contradicted by society, which instills high expectations and rewards those who push themselves to burnout.

I created Dézoomer to act as a tool to dismantle the barriers to the learning process imposed by society's hyper-focus on achieving "success" while helping perfectionists utilize their strengths (e.g. highly motivated, detail-oriented, etc.) Even now, it’s not the “perfect” website but that’s truly the point. Sprinkled with tidbits of French vocabulary as a nod to my source of inspiration, Dézoomer offers a variety of resources to aid its users in fostering a commitment to progress over perfection.
